Open Data Day #KE is here!

I am so excited. The International Open Data day is coming up on February 22, 2014 and in Kenya, we are holding it simultaneously  in three cities – Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa. Simeon, the Open Institute’s community manager and his team at OI have been working with communities in Nairobi at Pawa254, Kisumu at LakeHub and the Mombasa tech community to organises what promises to be an exciting time.

The Open Data day provides us with an opportunity to make publicly available data – such as the data on the Kenya Open Data Portal to be useful. Certainly it provides us with an opportunity to gather more data that is hidden on PDFs and scape it so that it is usable. I am so looking forward to seeing the apps and visualisations and interesting outcomes of the day.

Really, you must come even of you are like me – not a techie (Register here), and scroll down the homepage share ideas of the sort of projects that you would like to see happen. For example, I know we shall share the #KCPETrends site and get people to add on the data on it, clean it up and make the site even more useful to parents… 🙂
